2007 Volvo XC90 Stock & Cars For Sale | Kelley's Blue Book (2023)

With the growing movement towards smaller, more efficient vehicles, the Volvo XC90 strikes the perfect balance between car and SUV. The spacious and safe XC90, based on the previous generation S80 chassis, is packaged in a handy size and equipped with a choice of V6 or V8 engines. Although more expensive than the similarly sized vehicles from Nissan and Honda, the SUV from Volvo is much more luxurious and is regarded as a status symbol. Regardless of how you view the XC90, there's no doubting the vehicle's rugged construction, all-weather capability, exemplary safety rating and high resale value.

Volvo XC90 price used 2007

The 3.2 front-wheel drive has an MSRP of $36,830, with all-wheel drive adding another $1,850 to the price. The V8 starts at $47,120 and tops out at around $60,000 fully loaded. While this is a popular vehicle, the bottom line is that there is still room for negotiation, so be sure to check out the fair purchase price, which reflects the typical transaction price paid by buyers in your area. The XC90 maintains an above average expected resale value that is on par with the BMW X5, Volkswagen Touareg, Land Rover LR3 and Acura MDX and outperforms the Cadillac SRX, Infiniti FX35 and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Driving the used Volvo XC90 2007

The XC90 achieves impressive on-road performance through a combination of unique safety and stability features. A combination of the wide stance and Volvo's Roll Stability Control (RSC) system is the main reason the XC90 can handle emergency maneuvers almost like a low sedan.

Although you're blessed with over 20cm of ground clearance, you'll hardly feel it when cornering and hairpin turns. All-wheel drive models benefit from a Haldex viscous coupling system that splits engine power between the front and rear axles. Under normal driving conditions, 95% of the power goes to the front wheels. If they start to skid, the Haldex system directs power to the rear wheels until front wheel traction is restored.

inner comfort

Lots of gray plastic and leather can be found inside the XC90, although a few wood trims help warm things up a bit. The interior is rather restrained, tastefully decorated and very user friendly. There is seating for five and the option of a forward-facing third-row seat. The driver and front passenger relax in two comfortable clamshell seats with integrated whiplash protection. The Volvo XC90 is packed with impact protection features such as front side impact airbags, a curtain airbag that extends the full length of the passenger compartment and a roof design engineered to better resist collapse in the event of a rollover. You'll also find subtle touches like the sliding rear seat center section, which can be used to bring a child in a safety seat closer to the front-seat passenger.

Exterior-Styling

The XC90 looks like a bigger, taller version of the popular XC70 car. All the well-known Volvo styling cues are present, including the high V-shaped bonnet bulge and extended taillights that run the length of the D-pillars and are attached to the turn signal bar. The high ride height does not result in increased height, so getting in and out is similar to getting in and out of a car. Volvo is particularly proud of the XC90's roof design, which can provide extra security in the event of a rollover.

standard functions

The XC90 3.2 features a six-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), stability and traction control, tire pressure monitoring, dual-zone climate control, front and rear fog lamps, entry keyless illuminated remote, dual electric heated door mirrors, AM/FM Stereo with CD, Volvo ROPS, eight-way power driver's seat, front skid plate, cruise control, tilt/extend steering wheel with touch controls, computer maple, rear wiper/washer and 17" Neptune alloy wheels. The V8 trim adds all-wheel drive, rear air conditioning, automatic level control, a power glass sunroof, leather seats, and 17-inch Anteaus alloy wheels.

Work options

Options for the 3.2 trim include the Premium package, which includes an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, power sunroof, six-disc CD changer, power passenger seat and leather interior. The Versatility Package includes rear air conditioning, automatic level control, rear audio controls, an integrated child seat and a third-row leather seat. The V8 offers a touring package with Pro Logic II surround sound, steering wheel and wood trim. Standalone options for the XC90 include active bi-xenon headlights, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), navigation, enhanced audio with subwoofer and rear controls, dual-screen rear entertainment system and 18-inch wheels.

engine and gears

The new 3.2-liter straight-six gives the entry-level model a distinct advantage over last year's supercharged straight-five engine. More power and torque help the big Volvo accelerate a little faster, but many SUV owners just can't live without a V8. For them, the large torque assist and impressive power of the 4.4 trim level greatly improve the performance figures. On the other hand, both engines require premium unleaded petrol and the V8 engine option could put the XC90's price point out of reach for many buyers.

KBB vehicle rating and classification methodology

Our expert ratings come from hours of driving and number crunching to ensure you choose the best car for you. We thoroughly review and test every new SUV, car, truck or minivan for sale in the United States and compare it to its competitors. When all this dust settles, we'll have our assessments.

We need new ratings when a completely new vehicle or a new generation of an existing vehicle comes onto the market. Additionally, we reassess these ratings when a new generation vehicle receives a mid-cycle upgrade - basically a mid-cycle car (usually around the 2-3 year mark) is given a minor facelift, usually beefed up with features, and technology updates.

Instead of pulling random numbers out of thin air or a meaningless checklist, the KBB editorial team places a vehicle where it belongs in its class. Before a car can get its KBB rating, it has to prove that it's better (or worse) than the other cars it competes with, while trying to trick you into spending your money on buying or renting it .

Our editors drive and live with a specific vehicle. We ask the right questions about the interior, exterior, engine and powertrain, ride and handling, equipment, comfort and of course the price. Does it serve the purpose for which it was built? (Whether that purpose is to efficiently commute to work in the city, to protect your family, to make you feel like you've made it to the top -- or that you're on your way -- or to make you feel that you have finally found the right partner for your lifestyle.)

We take every vehicle we test to the test – parking, lane changing, reversing, cargo space and charging – as well as the essential aspects – acceleration, braking, handling, smoothness and interior comfort, build quality, material quality, reliability.
