A visit to the library

  • Access to the library's electronic resources is available on campus if you are connected to campus wirelessly or via a library computer.
  • Computer access: Visitors who meet certain criteria (seeAccess policy for guest computers) can get a guest computer login at the information desk.
  • Printing:Visitors can print on a Printme printer using a credit or debit card. To print on HP printers, visitors can purchase a VTS card to pay for printing and add cash to a VTS Level 1 machine. The machine charges $1 per card.
  • Accessibility in the library: Learn more about services and ADA accommodations available to users with disabilities.
  • Events in the library: Check out our calendar of library events, most of which are open to the public. You can sign up for our newsletter,Events @ Hannon, in order to be informed about events and other important activities.

Borrowing rights for visitors

Certain eligible patrons may request library borrowing privileges. For information on whether you qualify for the right to borrow and how to set it up, see the information below. All other guests who do not fall into any of the categories below can purchase for $300 per year.

Former students

  • Alumni of LMU may purchase annual loan rights at a discounted rate of $100 (available for purchase at the Circulation Desk).
  • LMU alumni are eligible for an LMU OneCard, available at the OneCard office, which is required to access guest computers and purchase borrowing rights.
  • Admitted alumniborrowing rights for visitors.
  • Alumni can request free accessATLA Religion Database with ATLA series.

Faculty emeritus

Retirees from LMU and LLS faculty/staff

  • Full-time LMU retirees must obtain a "Gold Card" from Human Resources and bring it to the Circulation Desk to be eligible for a loan.

Local population

  • Residents of the Westchester (90045), Playa Vista (90094) and Playa del Rey (90293) neighborhoods are eligible to purchase a Visitor Loan Card at a discounted rate of $100. To purchase a card, please visit the Circulation Desk Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., Saturday or Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Proof of local residency requires a valid photo ID or utility bill showing your name and address.
  • Residents who purchase a credit card will receive oneborrowing rights for visitors.

Religious residents and religious visitors

  • Receiving local monks (Jesuit community) and visiting religious teacherslink borrowing rights.
  • Religious scholars visiting campus for a short period of time (less than a year) should ask their department chair or dean to send a letter to the library dean requesting permission to borrow from the library. The letter should state the department, school or department responsible for any costs incurred, as well as the expected due date.
  • Note: Access to off-campus electronic resources may vary depending on your affiliation with the university.
  • As soon as the dean approves the borrowing rights for the material in the library, the visiting scholar or visiting faculty can visit the Loan Desk to complete the creation of the invoice. If applicable, take the OneCard with you.

Visiting scientists and visiting faculty

  • Welcome to visiting lecturers and visiting scientistslink borrowing rights.
  • Visiting faculty and scholars visiting campus for a short period of time (less than a year) should ask their department chair or dean to send a letter to the library dean requesting permission to borrow from the library. The letter should state the department, school or department responsible for any costs incurred, as well as the expected due date.
  • Note: Access to off-campus electronic resources may vary depending on your affiliation with the university.
  • As soon as the dean approves the borrowing rights for the material in the library, the visiting scholar or visiting faculty can visit the Loan Desk to complete the creation of the invoice. If applicable, take the OneCard with you.

Other visitors with borrowing rights

The following groups are eligible to borrow from the William H. Hannon Library. Each group has specific policies and procedures associated with obtaining these privileges. Select a category below to read more information on how to apply for borrowing rights.

  • Faculty from other AJCU institutions must provide the AJCU Direct Reciprocal Library Borrower Form (available at their home institution), completed at their home library, and present their current school ID card at the borrowing desk. LMU faculty wishing to borrow materials from other AJCU institutions should use oursAJCU-passpoortpagina.

  • Donors donating the library MrRazine Scholars Circle i Collectors Clubmust send a letter to the library dean,Kristine Brancolini, requesting permission to borrow from the library. Upon Dean's approval, a Visitor Loan Card may be obtained during full-time hours by bringing a photo ID to the supply desk.

  • students who have completed the study of theology haveSemester loan rights. Other students attending extension/continuing education must apply for the right to borrow and contact usVisitor Services Page.

  • The school principal should first contact the library administration (for Jill Cornelio at 310-338-4593 orJill.Cornelio@lmu.edu) create an agreement between the school and the library. A list of teachers who have the right to use the library for a certain period of time (usually a year) is usually required. The library will prepare a contract detailing the terms of the loan agreement (including liability for lost or unreturned items). All teachers on the list can get a visitor credit card during office hours by bringing a photo ID to the Loan Desk.

  • Both the faculty/staff member and their spouse must go to the OneCard office together to receive the OneCard. We recommend that you contact the OneCard office in advance to verify the procedures. The teacher/staff member's spouse can then take their OneCard to the circulation desk to be eligible for borrowing.

  • Directors or board members must send a letter to the library dean,Kristine Brancolini, requesting permission to borrow from the library. After the dean's approval, the visitor's loan card can be obtained during the working hours of the loan office with an ID card with a picture on the loan office.

  • Officially recognized religious leaders who live or work in the local community (zip codes 90045, 90094 or 90293) must send a letter to the library dean,Kristine Brancolini, for library loan approval. Use official letterhead or provide some other means of confirming eligibility. Once approved, local priests must bring photo identification to the Loan Desk during business hours to complete a loan application and receive a visitor loan card.

  • The high school principal should first contact the library administration (for Jill Cornelio at 310-338-4593 orJill.Cornelio@lmu.edu) create an agreement between the high school and the library. Once that appointment is made, students should come to the Circulation Desk during office hours, where the names of all eligible students will be registered. The student must bring his school pass to the loan desk.

  • OTIS students must confirm that they have applied for the right to borrow by contacting themHead of circulation at OTIS.   • Marije or the LMU dance department should send a letter to the dean of the library,Kristine Brancolini, requesting permission to borrow from the library. After approval by the dean, program participants can get a visitor's credit card during working hours by bringing an ID with a photo to the Loan Desk.

  • The Summer Events office must send a list of CTY instructors/staff who may need to use the librarycirkulacija@lmu.edu. The list is kept at the betting counter. People from the list get the right to borrow. CTY students and RAs do not have borrowing privileges.

  • This must be submitted by the URSA Program CoordinatorRay Andradethe following information about students for issuing ID cards for library visitors: first and last name, campus address (hall and room number), telephone and mobile number and e-mail address.
